MONDAY 12TH OCTOBER - Beau Sejour Cinema - 10am – 11.15am & 7pm - 8.15pm
In support of MENTAL HEALTH WEEK, Culture & Leisure and Mindful Guernsey are hosting two screenings of ‘THE CONNECTION Mind your Body’ The film introduces the powerful effects of Mindfulness, Meditation, Yoga and Tai Chi.
After the morning film, complimentary coffee will be served in the bar area with the chance to ask questions with Nicky and Raj. There will also be a complimentary drink from the bar on production of your ticket, after the evening showing. Nicky and Raj will also be available in the evening.
After being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, journalist and filmmaker Shannon Harvey travelled the world in search of the missing link in healthcare. From interviewing world leading scientists to meeting people with remarkable stories of recovery from severe back pain, heart disease, infertility, cancer and multiple sclerosis, this documentary delves into the link between our mind and body.
The tickets are FREE, so please book early and bring your ticket with you on the day.
THURSDAY 15TH OCTOBER - Les Cotils Conference Centre, 8am-1pm
A flagship event aimed at cutting through the stigma attached to mental health issues. Former Welsh Rugby international Gareth Thomas will head up an impressive line-up of speakers.
The conference theme is Change for the Good and speakers will deliver important key messages including positive attitudes to mental health, the impact of stigma in the workplace, a focus on recovery and practical and simple ways to manage mental health at work and in sport.
Speakers include: John Curran, John Binns, Sue Baker, Dave Warr and Chris Griffiths
FRIDAY 16TH OCTOBER - Les Cotils Conference Centre, 9am-5pm
Celebrate Guernsey’s Mental Health Awareness Week and the island’s new Mental Health and Wellbeing Unit!
Join us in conversation about changing perceptions and fighting the stigma associated with mental health issues.
This one day conference promises a series of interesting talks, workshops and dialogue on stigma and mental health across the lifespan. There will also be a focus on the challenges of delivering services to an island community. Knowledge neutralises stigma.
Speakers include: Judith Robertson, David Nutt, Dr Nori Graham, Dr Philip Graham, Emily Litten, Dr Deborah Judge, Dr Paramabandu Groves
Tickets cost £65 and are free to HSSD staff. Certificates of attendance can be provided upon request for CPD purposes.
